Most spectacular flame I ever made was when I was melting shellac on a campstove to make shellac and sic grit lapidary wheels. I forgot it and looked outside just in time to see a 12 foot diameter fireball go off. I have been in  a building totally consumed by fire ceilings and all and my homemade fireball was much more spectacular.I need a better was to melt shellac.

That reminds me of an article about shooters starting brush fires, some non-shooter wanted the gubberment to require all manufactures to make all non-sparking bullets so ricochets wouldn't spark brush fires. I know that some surplus ammo from former Warsaw pact countries have steel jacket bullets but having fired some of these in the past I have yet to see them spark like rounds fired in the movies or TV. Most all hunting rounds are copper jacketed or in the case of .22 rimfire made of lead, so no sparks there. It's the muzzle blast that sparks the fire in most cases not the bullet and this photo shows the reason why muzzle blast would set dry weeds, grass, leaves  or paper ablaze, WOW!!, fire in the hole.

Actually, the surplus ammo alot of people are getting these days are steel core bullets.
They DO spark when they hit a rock.

I haven't bought surplus ammo for some years now, back when it was AP ammo and had a really hard steel core in it, but I only used that at the range in my 03-A3 at the 500 yard targets. I also had several ammo boxes full of bandoleers for my M-1 Garand that were AP but when I sold that rifle the ammo went with it. A friend of mine  has an AK-47 and his surplus ammo is all steel, jacket and case, but that steel on the bullet is so very soft it is almost like copper and all  is covered with shellac or something like it. He also has a 9mm handgun that he buys surplus ammo for, also all steel, Berdan primed crap, but he is not a reloader so it makes no difference to him that it is not brass, Boxer primed. I used to reload a lot of different calibers both pistol and rifle.

So much for a flash suppressor aye. Can be seen from a mile away with that. Have to roll like hell after the first shot. Then again, how many people are you going to have shooting back at you. lol
