Just wanted to let forum members know that one of our members, Don (jakesrocks) passed away.

Don was a valued member of the forum and fought a valiant fight against cancer.  Always willing to offer help and always friendly to everyone, he will be missed.

The pain and suffering are finally gone and you are with G_d.  Rest in peace, Don.

A curse and a blessing when someone leaves for new hunting-grounds.
Don put up a hell of a fight.
He will always be remembered for his upbeat nature and immense helpfulness.
Don was one of my early supporters in this hobby, and gave me tons of advice when I had no clue as to how to proceed.
He always seemed to enjoy helping others along.

Just fitting, to quote Pink of Opalholic:
"One more thing, on a lighter note.
Don told me that he wanted to be buried face down, so anybody who didn't like him could kiss his ass! How's that for a visual image? "

That sounds just like him.

R.I.P. Don, you will be missed by many.

Don was a curmudgeon but a nice one who just didn't suffer fools gladly.  He was always happy to freely share his encyclopedic knowledge of many lapidary related subjects.  His passing is a great loss to all of us, and especially to beginners who could gain tremendously from his experience and machinery tips.  Sincere condolences to his wife and faithful dog Jake.

Very sad to hear of the passing of another rockhound.
Sounds like he was a good mentor for some.
I know I have benefited greatly from some of the old timers in the clubs I have been involved with.
Rest in Peace Don.
