Rainforest jasper

Sourced from Australia, purchased from a yard sale near in Phelan, CA.  3.3-inch finished diameter, but with lots of nice little orbs across its face.

That jasper makes a beautiful sphere. I have one that I am working on.
You are doing a great job, so this make how many that you have made?

Very nice sphere!  Rainforest isn't my favorite stone, but it's one of Vince's.   :icon_sunny:

Very nice Sphere and a nice size.  Boy I tell you the Aussies at Quartzsite wished they had that material this year.  They were sent 3 or 4 50 gal drums and the quality was absolute junk compared to that piece.  The Guy who runs it said that they are forced to buy sight unseen and that it says really that the supply is going going going and all that is left is lower quality.  Maybe it was only him that got stiffed and maybe there is still plenty to be had but he didn't think so.  I picked up 3 20lb pieces about 6 years back that were drool worthy and glad I did.  The best I could find in his barrels was about 4" thick and the orbs were very small (pea size) and the colors were very muted compared to the better material with solid dark greens like yours.

Thanks for all the nice comments; much appreciated.

iRockhound - I was pretty amazed to find the rough as I too have seen quality decline, and it did come at a pretty penny. I might be able to squeeze a second out of what remains, and then use the ends in tumbler and for cabs.

Jhon P. - I just counted my production for this first year.  26 that I made, and another 8 that I bought (you know how that goes, right?!).  The favorite I bought is shown here from an Orcutt member collected in Cayucos, CA.  I am just drawn to the natural vugs.  It is 5.5 inches finished and amongst my favorites.

Great spheres, you can see Jhons as it's posted right by your post, scroll back and look at the one I made, mine and Jhons are totally different colors than yours, I like both!
