"Topo" Rhyolite
« on: October 21, 2018, 06:02:15 PM »

Acquired some interesting rhyolite from a fellow I met at the Ventura county fair hanging out in our rock and minerals section.  We got to talking and next thing I know I have some new material to work with.  A rhyolite reportedly out of Mojave area; I am calling it "Topo" rhyolite for no other reason than it reminds me of topographic maps with all the concentric lines and such.  In any case I produced 2 so far at 4.7 and 4.8 inch diameter, respectively (in photos), and another is finishing up nearer to 5+ inches. I'll give my contact pick of the litter but wanted to share the "look" of this material.
