Razor thin edge backlit will show slight translucency. (dark green)

This sliver is only about 1.25 inches long.

Here are photos of a "knife edge" on Edwards Black.  The edge is about the thickness of a business card.  The light is a 200 lumen LED about 1/2 inch across - so, extremely bright.  At about 1.5 mm thick the light does not go through the sample piece.

I got it cut recently from the local rock shop, got a 2.4mm thick slab out of one of the rough. Did you mean 2000 lumen LED light? The color is still black or holding its color fine, 650 Lumen light bulb doesn't even show anything through it, slab is all black. I'll have to get pictures of it soon, will update this post with the pictures.

You need to get it down to about the thickness of a business card to get a color show.....
