Opal doublet a bit of red and green
« on: December 10, 2017, 06:20:00 AM »

Of all the stones I experimented with, this is probably the most likely piece that needed to be made into a doublet.  The original bit of opal was curved so ended up quite thin as you can see but the colours are lovely....

Wow, good job on the doublet.  It's very pretty -- shows the colors well!

This one I had no idea what it would come out like. The curved bit of rough had skin all around it except a small bit of light blue fire exposed on the side.

I flattened one side and it showed some colour and had to use that side for attachment due to the shape. As I ground down the top it started to come alive.

I didn’t expect the reds to be so prominent, thought it was go8ng to be a bluey green one!
