My first knife handle in use
« on: June 21, 2017, 06:33:59 PM »

This is my first go at replacement sides on a knife. It was just challenging enough to be interesting. Had some great material and a classic Buck folding hunter. I cut out a short piece of pvc tubing that fit perfectly over the blade to protect my hands while grinding, sanding, ect. I put a wine cork in the end which was just deep enough for the knife point to make contact and stabilize it so it wouldn't move around in the tube.

This is a birthday gift for one of my backpacking brothers. Way back when I was a little kid he had one, his brother had one and my folks got me one so I could have this all important piece of our backpacking world. I've been backpacking with him for over fifty years. I though this would be a fitting gift.

Cheers,

Kent

Always nice to see your work "in use" rather than just sitting on the shelf looking pretty. Proud of my brother Jim for getting this knife slimy
