Request help for rock ID
« on: August 27, 2019, 08:06:40 AM »

Good morning:  Acquired new stufff at a recent Rockhound sale.  Amongst the goodies, a future sphere with interesting little framed pentagons.  Can someone help with definitive ID?  Thanks in advance, and as always apologize for the lack of photo talent.

I took this to my Ventura Club and asked the presenter Walt Lombardo for that evening what rock this might be.  He gave me a rather confident answer that it was garnets, especially with the zoning shown in the photo, and the density.  So, that is the answer I will go with.
