What is a fair price for HP 20" slab saw?
« on: June 09, 2017, 02:16:51 PM »

I'm finally getting into the selling stage of things.  I have a 20" saw that has been sitting empty for quite a while.  My interests are in smaller rocks and this saw is too much.  And when I moved it this week I realized how big this saw is. I have no idea what a fair asking price would be.   It has a blade and I will provide enough oil to get started.  Any ideas on what I should ask?
Thanks
Steve

Steve;

   That depends, since I am hunting for saws right now...   near Portland, Oregon.   Really though, it is not about size.  I have seen great 20 inch saws and others with holes rusted in the pan and frozen bearings. What is the brand, condition, etc. I have seen 20 inch saws on craigslist from $100 to $3,000. Pretty sure the guy never got $3,000 even though the saw had been reconditioned.  How about a picture, some description and then ask what it might be worth.

Age and condition (photos required) are necessary to even get you into the "ballpark".

Refurbished and with a decent non-Chinese blade I get about $100.00 per blade inch on square rail non-chinese Highland park saws.  The square rails get the highest price if they have bearings on the sled.  If it's a round rail expect 40-50
Pecent reduction  in the value of a square rail.
Post pictures of the saw and can give you current value as is.
