Any info appreciated.

Thanks,

Tiger eye would be chatoyant. This yellow stuff is not. If the pieces were bigger, I would get some to try out.

Thanks!

Actually not being chatoyant is good for me. Have troubles with tiger eye.

Yeah, I would like bigger pieces as well but not much luck finding chunks or chips
say 2" to 3" long, 1 1/2" wide, and 3/4" to 1" thick. Did find a place (Gems by Mail)
that does have some larger pieces but the shipping to Canada is really expensive.

Noticed that a lot of people buy slabs but they seem to be mostly a standard thickness
for standard cabs. But I need thicker. There is thicker out there but then it's to large
and I only have a 6" trim saw. I guess I am the oddball that wants sizes between
what's generally available.

Some stuff I get in Canada you get some larger pieces in a bunch of rocks but
it not guaranteed. Well, no one said lapidary was going to be easy.

I might take a chance on a couple of pounds of the Tiger Jasper. They also sell
on eBay Canada so shipping is not so bad.

Unless I know the seller, I like to buy something that I can have in my hand. I've been very disappointed when buying rough like that on eBay. Most of the time there was no deception on the part of the seller, I just had other expectations.

I'm trying to get a large slab, 1/3 inch by 16 inches by 8 inches, of tiger iron from a friend. It's beautiful as it sits and I'd hate to chop it up. I'll figure out a way to flat lap it and make it into a display piece.

I like a bit thicker slabs too. On stuff like rainbow obsidian I can get some very nice effects with a higher dome.
