Title: Some of my lampwork beads and vessels
Post by: adovbs on January 04, 2015, 11:02:56 AM
As I mentioned in my first post in the Welcome area, I also do lampwork.  Here are a few of my better sets/focals/vessels!

Pink blown glass double handled vessel - a bit less than an inch each dimension.  It's pretty small, meant to be worn on a chain.

Urban Grunge reactive glass bead set.  This is a very special glass that develops various kinds of irridescent effects depending on the chemistry of your lampworking flame.

Desert Song - etched "nugget" shapes meant to remind one of the Painted Desert.

Kokanees at Play - Kokanee salmon leaping from the water.

And, a few more...

Faux Ametrine Amphora.

Oil People - an "artsy" piece depicting our dependence on fossil fuels.  Since oil is what allowed the green revolution, and a correspondingly huge increase in human population, most of us in fact are "made of oil."

Sea Hollows - these are about an inch and a half in diameter, and, of course, hollow.

Gunmetal and Roses.  Reactive glass and sculpted clear grey glass roses and leaves.

The amphora beads are following a great tradition that has long been ignored. Very well done . The desertsong piece is one of the most visually balanced pieces I have seen in years and we have to love your sense of fun. I wonder how long it has been since salmon were swimming through your place?

I find your pieces very intriguing!
I like the "Urban Grunge" the best.   :headbang:
Perhaps you'd like to post some tutorials in the tutorial section on basic lampwork beads?
Tutorials help draw in more members.

Too funny!  Oil people, oil people!!!  Everything else pales in comparison!!    :blob1:   Sometimes I just can't help myself (but I make no apologies ).

You do wonderful lampwork!  I love all of your pieces.  Please do post some tutorials for us "wanna be's".  I've always wanted to try lampworking, just never had the time to accumulate the necessary tools.  I do stained glass work (Ice does, too, but she's way better than me), but it's gone by the wayside after being bitten by the opal bug!

adovbs, where do you sell your lampwork?

Well, right now - no where.  We moved a year and a half ago and I haven't set my glass studio back up yet.  It's on the to do list for some time this summer, though.  I have an Etsy store, but nothing is for sale in it right now because my stock is low.  Hopefully I'll have my studio and some new stuff online by the fall.  That's the goal, anyway.  Thanks for asking!

When you do get yourself set up, please let us know.  No pressure, but I love your creative tastes.

Oh wow what a beautiful way to create art:) I have always admired the lampwork but I sure as heck don't need to slip off into another hobby at this point.
I love that you name your work and the colors and textures:)
