I will be cutting thin slabs of "garden" quartz (a.k.a. lodolite) to use as caps in doublets.

Can I orient the crystal any way I like to maximize yield and aesthetics, or should I expect problems in certain directions of sawing?

I've cut lots and have just worried about yield and all was fine.
