Uncut stones
« on: August 20, 2017, 09:07:43 PM »

Tourmalines?
The brown stone has silver plates instead of rutile and something is making a prismatic shine in the interior of the stone
The dark green stone is actually black and looks like tourmaline

The transparent stones could be either quartz with oxide veils, or Oregon sunstone with copper sheets (see if there are also any fine schiller dots). Could be something else, too, so you might want to test for hardness to start narrowing things down.

Although I can't speak that they are all the same material in pic one I would say it resembles Topaz in form, especially the point on the left of the photo.

At least some of it looks like topaz. If you have a sensitive scale a specific gravity test is easy to do and will narrow down the options.

Thanks!
I did not mean to be lazy, it just turned out that way.
The next time I post I will try to provide some more information and perhaps a picture that actually is in focus. I think I am being tripped on the photos by the automatic focusing by the camera because what ever it is focusing on it is not the specimen (?)
