Photobucket Problems
« on: June 28, 2017, 07:00:15 PM »

Some of you may have noticed that where an image was linked to Photobucket there is now a weird image asking you to log into Photobucket.
Turns out Photobucket now wants you to pay them to host pictures.  So anything you linked here from there no longer shows up.  They are holding your images hostage and you have to pay now to get them.

I suggest using Picasa or some other photo hosting service instead.

..And it looks like it is affecting the Forum Supporter tags everyone has too...
That will need fixing.  But the Photobucket account is Randy's, so what he does with it is up to him.
In the mean time if that large "log into Photobucket" emblem in your sig line is driving you batty, just edit your signature and remove it.
We'll figure out some other method of tagging forum supporters.

Yup.  I already edited my signature to remove the photobucket error message.

Nhhh, the scam is an email based scam.
No actual default action on that one.

In this case, the forums are affected for anyone under that system.
Have told Wampi that already but was happily ignored.... :) :) :)

It appears based on what a member told me through email that Photobucket was attacked by some Ransomware.   According to the email I received the member was asked to pay $399 to access their photos.  That amount of money is very typical of a ransomware virus/scam.  For now, run your antiviral and avoid Photobucket until the problem is fixed.

OK. deleted it from my sig line, but I still see it at the top of the forum. Is that me, or the forum? Ran my microsoft security essentials, and it says I'm clear... but who knows...  Also, the menu bar at the top is gone....

Stupid question, but is there any security or other reason not to just attach photos from my photo album application on my computer?

ileney,

You can just upload your photos from your computer to the forum.  Please make sure your pictures are resized (I use 600 x 800) before you do.

Photobucket is the problem, not you or the forum.
We're still working out all the things linked to Photobucket.
