Is this Amethyst Sage or ???
« on: June 09, 2018, 12:16:17 PM »

Well, I am sitting on a 5 gallon pail of dendritic agate. Some with the nice purple agate and dendrites that has a white rind. I assumed Amethyst Sage until I looked at Paiute Dendritic. How do you tell them apart? Are they from the same place as I know Dale H. is mining both?
I know there is also Snake River Dendritic Agate as well. Are there other common dendritic agates in the northwest? I am trying to figure out what is in my bucket before I put it up for sale.   thanks,  Neal

I would give it a thumbs up ID for Amethyst Sage.

I would agree on Amethyst Sage however I hadn't posted because I have never seen the Snake River Dendritic.  Lack of knowledge of some areas makes for a less informed opinion, it does have all the right colors and markers though for the Sage.

thanks, I will go with Amethyst Sage.   Does anyone have a good picture of Dale's Paiute Agate?   None of the pictures I found on-line are very definitive.

I used to own part of the Snake River Dendritic claim which adjoins Dale's Paiute claim, I would say Paiute on that one.

thanks Tony....   good to hear from someone who has been there.   Is there anything that is distinctive about the Snake River Dendritic? I have collected about 50 pounds of Dendritic agate from the Northwest region. Trying to properly identify it is really difficult.

Now I am confused and it could be my screen but there looks to be a slight bit of purple color to that piece?

I see what looks like translucent purple running down the left side, too.

I sold most of this stone and listed it as Amyethyst ( purple ) Sage. I went with Amy Sage after go0ing to the Madras and Prineville, OR shows and looking at quite a bit of similar material. I believe a lot of Snake River dendritic is sold as Amy Sage because that name is more common out here, be it right or wrong. thanks for the input
