definitely looks like Garnet to me possibly Grossular.

Agreed, garnet.  But the color looks more like demantoid to me.

I think you are right. For some reason I didn't even think of garnet. My mind kept going to low grade tourmaline or emerald. Thanks again.

Any idea where it's from? If it's from the US it could even be a chunk of peridot...
Why did you think it was emerald or tourmaline?

I got it in a collection. It was one of the few the didn't have a note with it. On parts of the rock the crystals are long like Emerald or tourmaline. On other parts looks like points. The more i look into green garnet, the better it fits in with that type of material.
