I found this last Sunday on my property, I think the green is copper related, cound be some type of breciated stone, hardness is around 6.5, SG around 3, the green has what looks like pyroxine crystals, contains copper pyrite crystals, Its located on the peel fault zone.

Very interesting. You can see it was on a fault line by the breccia, but I have no clue what it could be. Y'all down under have such an abundance of beautiful material.

We see lots of very strange metal bearing rocks with lots of quartz and always some remnant minerals from ocean sediments in faults , right in them. They show many generations of metamorphism from hot fluids leaking into the fault. I would not be surprised to see that piece come from a certain fault here in Washington state. Things like this do not get a lot of recognition because of the very limited amounts available as well as a certain parochialism common in some rock hounds. I wanted to pull my hair out for years over a simple misidentification of one of these fault materials and it frankly took a younger generation of rock hounds to push the proper name in a rather vigorous manner. Love these rarities.

Thanks for the feedback, I enjoy rock hounding as much as carving, I have 2 rhodonite deposits and a copper deposit on my property, I have a good friend that cuts spheres and I think this stone will suit.

It should make a good sphere. Get a picture and post it whern your friend makes the sphere

Just wanted to share my latest find from this location and a cab cut from this material, huge variation in color, the light blue piece has a look of pyroxine, small crystals like jadeite shows after cutting, it does contain copper pyrite and I still think the green and blue is caused by copper, I have sent to be tested.

Thanks, I received my tests back on my stone, ZRD, my blue and light green are prehnite, quite a shock, will try to post a pic off my latest test cab, my windows based lap top just died, using firefox- ubunto, here goes.
