Welcome to the forum Oklahoma, from coastal California.  Lapidary is my "pottery wheel relaxation" after a day of hard labor as an environmental consultant.  Congrats on your equipment windfall and on the opportunity to move forward and explore this hobby.  Take your time and enjoy each step as the journey is half the fun.

BTW
I found some outstanding fossils in a thin bed of limestone overlaying a  bed of coal southeast of Tulsa. The specific location is just west of the Broken Arrow Country Club
