graveyard point plume old stock blue, pink, and marcasite!
« on: February 02, 2018, 11:07:26 PM »

This is one I'm getting there just a bit (alot) more grinding to get it shaped just right, it was originally dug out by tom Caldwell and my uncle George. It makes me think of a Triassic Forest! Oh and it's about four inches thick at the base tapering to one inch at the top, it weights approximately 23-25 pounds so it's medium sized. Anybody else have some plune agate they wanna show I would love to see, and I mean any type of plume. If there isn't one already going we could do a plume agate catalog maybe?

:WEEEE: Fellow plume lover here.  I have made some posts with the plumes I collect in Texas.  I have several plumes in So Cal that I collect too.

Here is one on Black plumes from Texas. http://lapidaryforum.net/group/index.php?topic=3054.msg25212#msg25212

This one has more of the color.  http://lapidaryforum.net/group/index.php?topic=1879.0

Here is one of my favorites from the ranches.  I got about 6 or 7 slabs off of it.

I don't sell my rocks but if you like looking at plumes I have several galleries on my website dedicated to plumes.  http://www.rockhoundingusa.com/rough/marfa/index.html  There are about 50 pics per gallery and this gallery has 4 pages just on one ranch in Texas.

Just got back from surgery and now that my jaws reattached! Those plumes are TITS! Thanks irock that's really helpful for me actually because my other side of the family comes from Texas and I didn't rockhound when I was living there as a kid (wierd because other than owyhee county I lived in quartzsite) but now that it is my religion, and I've got to go back there soon ive been wondering about what to expect to find, it's a big state lol and all I know is granberrry and lipan (familys town). I've got alot of research to do on the great state of Texas!
