Amethyst Stalactite cross-section
« on: May 03, 2016, 08:15:52 AM »

I bought this at one of the road-side shows in Tucson earlier this year.  I stood there trying to decided if I should buy it or not for like 20 minutes.  The price was a bit more than I would have liked to pay for something.  In the end I still bought it, the woman saw me trying to decide and she gave it to me for 20% off.

I have a feeling you will turn it into something that will make this price very reasonable.

That's the most interesting of those I've seen before. Nice that your hesitation paid off!

That, and I was polite.
I find that politeness pays off.  As someone who used to do shows, I have a healthy respect for the folks that drag their stuff out, set up tents and potentially roast in the sun to earn some cash.  Selling at shows is NOT easy.  You have to have eyes in back of your head to be sure someone isn't pocketing something from your booth.  You have to have good people skills as well, and the ability to promote your product.

That's a really spectacular piece Amanda -- great buy!  I'll be interested in seeing what you do with it.

I'm considering a large wire setting for it and then taking metal clay and other amethyst and doing a huge neckpiece.

That is wild looking. I don't believe I have ever seen anything like that before. What are the dimensions?

It's about 5 inches by 3 inches.  Huge.   :icon_sunny:

I would leave it as it is. Sometimes you just can't improve on natures beauty.

That is a really unique and cool piece. Look as if it could be fragile with the interlocking crystals. I too look forward to what might be done with this piece...

That is a really "amazing" specimen. Wow!

I've made huge neck-pieces that size and were 4x5 lol from pieces of rhodochrosdite and labradorite slices, blue lace agate and rainforest rhyolite jasper. I wear them with pride, and get compliments up the wazoo.

So, may I ask what you've done anything with that piece yet? [I'm dying to see]
Or do you have too many irons in the fire? lol
