found a local sale on offerup for mineral oil. FINALLY

FINALLY i will be able to bring my 20 inch saw out of hibernation.
Just scored 12 gallons or so of clean mineral oil on offerup for $25 (the price of ONE gallon at farm supply) I cant wait to cut my boulders again!!
I have so many rocks i want to slab and sell its crazy.

I will be slicing up the jasper or pagioclase mistaken commonly as teanaway jade. That green porcelain type finish it has is insane.
Now that i have a huge winch for my truck,  i will be able to load more into my truck this spring from our claims.

turned out to be unusable in my saw. it was airplane engine oil.

My local power company drains a transformer from time to time and gives me the oil, usually in the 35 gallons range.  Oil and gas distributer here says it is basically the same oil as rock cutting oil.  I don't know, but it works..  Power company also changes hydraulic oil in their drilling trucks annually and the hydraulic oil seems to work fine as well.  Everybody has their own opinion on cutting oil, but free is good.

   Great on the free oil.. but do you know what is in it?  Transformer oil was popular for years but most of it has a ton of horrible things in it. Make sure you know what is in the oil or at least be advised it can be very harmful.

  We all have to make our own choices on that.  I've had several big saws going for many years that would not have turned a cut if I'd had to buy oil.  Power co says the pcb's are no longer in the oil.  No doubt there are other bad things so decide for yourself.

   Agreed.....  Glad to hear there are no PCB's anymore. Now, if the price of used equipment would only come down..
