Thanks for posting these nice introductory videos.  Eight strand braids such as these are great because the braid itself is interesting and you can vary the color patterns from single colors to any mix or match.

I don't think these are the same as the 8 strand braid shown with the dendritic jade in my post.  I will compare to my books when I get home and let you know.  there are various ways to use 8 strands to make different braid patterns.  If you are looking to create additional texture by using thicker/more strands on some bobbins than others, not all braid patterns are conducive to that technique.
