Hello from Cave Creek, AZ
« on: August 10, 2014, 05:42:23 PM »

Hello and greeting from Cave Creek, AZ, just a hop, skip and jump from our fearless administrator Amanda, just a few min. of freeway driving separate us. I'm kinda new to lapidary but old to silver work, some nearly fifty years of hammering, bending, soldering and casting metals. Very nice to find this new and different lapidary web site. :o

Tell us about Cave Creek?  I'm looking for a place to retire away from Albuquerque.

Welcome!   :D
Yes you truly are not far from either Gina or I here in Chandler.
Though soon I'll be out in Queen Creek.  Got word today we might close on our new home this Friday or next week.  just waiting on the final stuff with the lender.

Phil, Why would you want to leave the Land of Enchantment? Cave Creek used to be a wonderful little desert community then this thing called urban sprawl brought the city of Phoenix right up to the boarder of Cave Creek with a development called Tatum Ranch and our schools went from small to over crowded over one summer. Ranchers started selling their ranch property for vast sums of money for development, the state sold of trust land to developers for subdivisions and then in came Fry's, Safeway, CVS, Walgreens, Target and now the area is just like any other suburb of any other major city, fast traffic and air pollution. Other than that it has a great artist community that holds an annual Hidden in the Hill Studio Tour and Sale, there is also the supporting organization that helps with art projects in the schools.

I guess CAve Creek has really changed then. LAst time I saw it was when I breezed thru about 25 years ago. Albuquerque has become somwhere to be away from. It has become crime ridden, etc just like LA.

You could always come out to Queen Creek where I'm moving to.  We sign the papers for the new house Tuesday morning.
Still lots of property out there with no HOA, semi-rural yet with some suburban ammenities.  Our home is on a  septic but has town water.  I'm only a few short miles from grocery stores and shopping plazas yet I have horse farms around me.  Horses make good neighbors.   :toothy10:
I can even get you into contact with a good realtor that can help you find something to suit your needs.  He helped us find our house and did so pretty fast.  He's good.  He's pleasant to deal with, has lived out here in the valley area for 20+ years and knows the area well.

Phil, you could also move up north of the valley a bit to we are in the Prescott area.  Doesn't get crazy hot in the summer and the winters are mild.  Yes, we get snow on occasion, but it last for less than a day usually.  Prescott is known as one of the best places to retire to.  I work for a real estate agency (as a manager), but I know quite a few really good realtors as well. The quad city area is comprised of Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey.  All have rural areas but are close to shopping, etc. by car.  We're pretty much 2 hours away from everywhere in the state -- Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Canyon, etc.
