How can you polish Rubies Malachites Saphirres and Labradorites?

Is this video a good way to remove square looking facetted lanes worked with an ameritool universal polisher (plane polishing 6'' disk):

Is the silvo metal polish finish and the glass polisher a good way to polish for finishing  a work after using abrasive paper with 400/2000 grit?

Do you need to buy a tumbler at 150$ to get the best results? Is it not better to polish with the silvo metal polisher if you just want to work on a specific surface of the stone to correct a little damage?

Any help appreciated, thanks
