Bruneau Jasper and Lapis necklace
« on: February 03, 2015, 11:46:32 AM »

I have a new-found respect for jewelers.  The craftsmanship part and detail work is not easy.  You really have to be in the right frame of mind to line the metal up perfect, solder without anything moving on you.  Heck with clay you just go and let the clay be its thing.  Metal is a taskmaster.  It was great to carve out some time and play with this piece.

Oooh I love this one Helene!   :Worthy:
I like the contrast in color between the two major stones.  In a way the overall shape reminds me of a double sided Axe used in medieval warfare.

Wonderful piece. I have been waiting to see what you were going to do with the Bruneau. Very nice to see it put to good use.

Some people just have natural talent...I believe you are on the board of directors in that club!  I never would've thought to put lapis and bruneau together. I don't know why, they are two awesome stones.  And your smithing work is great.  Artistic composition also gets an A+.  Knocked this one out of the park if you ask me!

I do mean it Bent, metal always wants to fight me or it seems so.  I can't help but see a nick here or not perfectly allighned where it is supposed to be.   I have been tempted to quit working with metal and stick with stone cutting.

Thanks Haderly for the Bruneau rough.   It might be one of my favorite materials.   At least for this week   :azn:

I appreciate and have to say enjoy the positive comments.   You are so fun to share work with.
