Lexan laps
« on: April 19, 2019, 11:17:41 AM »

Ive seen a few vendors in the last couple of years selling Lexan(poly carbon) laps as masters or to be grooved and charged. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with these, that being grooved and charged?

I have a small pile of 1/2" Lexan sitting around from doing the hoods to two of my cabochon units, and wanted to see if anyone else has tried them for charged faceting laps before spending the time and material to make a few 8" flats. Concept seems fine, but I'm a perfectionist, and if they ain't worth it for quality gemwork, they ain't worth it.

I tried them years ago as they were supposed to work with oxides for quartz. No magic there.
