How hard is the blizzard stone? On the right side of the second picture there is a jasper that looks like poppy jasper. could it be?

How hard is the blizzard stone? On the right side of the second picture there is a jasper that looks like poppy jasper. could it be?

Blizzardstone is a gabbro so it varies in hardness, but it was tumbled with agates so i'm guessing a minimum of 5. As for the jasper I guess you could call it a poppy jasper, its the only one I found like it thus far.

Blizzardstone is unique to AK or so they say, fairly common to find around here in the right areas.

We have lots of types of gabbro down here including similar ones to blizzard stone.

I have a slab of Blizzardstone that I bought from a guy from Alaska in Quartzsite a couple of years ago.  I haven't cut it yet, but it's really cool looking.  Guess it's about time for me to fish that slab out and try to cut it.   :icon_sunny:

If its not magnetic its not the same.
