A Remington Sportsman in pink Cheetah Agate
« on: June 20, 2016, 10:44:46 AM »

I had purchased a few other folders when I got the bug from Mr. Hoover to do knives.  I hadn't thought much about the knives themselves or how they would work for stone scales.  These Remington's have one bolster a few degrees off allowing a nice snug capture when fitting the scales.  This allowed me to finish grind the scale sides before ever epoxying them to the knife so this is the knife with no cleanup after gluing.  I noticed in the photos I still have some un-kicked epoxy I need to clean off.  The Cheetah I bough about 2 years ago and it was the first time I had seen Cheetah.  I was going thru the barrels at Quartzsite and I saw this one piece that had Pink where most of the material there was Yellow so I grabbed it for being different.  I love the translucency in the agate allowing the spots to have more of a floating effect.

That's a good match for the metallic color of a knife!!!

Nice work, the back ground is very busy so it gets lost a bit, would be interested in seeing if other backgrounds show it off better?

Yeah that wood is pretty cool but it is quite busy.  I'll try re-shooting tomorrow and see.

I reshot the knife against a more neutral background.  I will have to make an official stand to shoot against for consistency.  This shows the handles better I think.  I did try shooting against a lighter material and of course the camera corrected thereby darkening the handles so went with this.
