how to bezel set cabochon that has sharp corners

(1/2) > >>

krautgirl65:
have an emerald cut rose quartz that needs a good home...small 5mmx3mm stone so corners must be crisp and I suck at this!...please...any suggestions are welcomed!

Phishisgroovin:
whenever i set a stone with sharp corners, i trim the bezel on those edges.
There are a few videos on youtube to show how.
basically, i use a worn 600 disk i made with a worn out expanding drum sanding belt.
IE: using a soda pop lid off a plastic bottle of Coke, cutting around it to make a disk, then popping a poin through the center and putting it on a dremmel tool to grind away the excess metal on the sharp corner of the setting.

Granted, it will take practice getting a rounded beautiful corner, practice practice practice.

Phishisgroovin:
and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS SET CORNERS FIRST!
Then go onto the straights.
