Took a picture of an Ibex last month, and would like to convert that into a lasting wearable memory of the trip. This is one of 4 possible surfaces to work on. Still unclear about what I want on the other faces. Currently, I'm thinking of Edelweis on the other large surface (Back of this face) and possibly an owl in a cavity to the left (side) of this.

Have yet to decide an eventual design for this bird. But stage one is done.

wish i had a nice area to set up and carve rock faces, i know i could do it. just have no place to do it safe without children around me screaming graaaandpa look!
That top one is going to be killer, i want an elk someday.

Not so sure about that. I will need to get some dept into it and the stone is naturally inward curved. Plus uniform colour does not help much to stand out in addition to not being sure if it will polish up (its calcite after all). :) Pure experiment, lets see how things go. :) :)

The bird shape immediately reminded me of a chickadee, especially with that black patch on the head. :icon_sunny:

I like your start on the ibex, looking good so far. Ibex is one of my favorite animals from antiquity, the ancients did some really fantastic representations of the animal on pottery, in metal and other forms of art.

Thank you Ben. Still about the head of the ibex. In progress to do Edelweis and Mountain first.
In the meantime basically finished the Labradorite Bird. Will leave the bottom front for the time being as is, as I do not yet know how I would like to have it set (eventually). :)

A cab (carving preform) to booth to get back into mood of cutting.
