Title: ID help please
Post by: kent on January 18, 2016, 01:14:29 PM
This slab was in a pile given to me by the son of a life long geologist. The pile filled my truck so I have a bunch of stuff I don't know about. Given his reported travels this piece could come anywhere from Russia, Australia, Colorado, or.......  Looks like it has a bunch of fractures but I cut a piece off and was able to complete a pendant without it splattering all over the place. There was a faded label on the slab saying Matocita or Matocite or similar. My search has led me to consider Chrysoprase, Amazonite or microcline variation of Amazonite.

BTW, its greener than the pendant photo, more like the slab.

Thanks for looking

Cheers,

Kent

Really nice pendant!  Can't help with the id part, but it sure does look similar to the link you posted.  Whatever it is, it's pretty!   :headbang:
