Title: Tiger Eye Verification Help
Post by: James D. Farrow on April 27, 2016, 09:13:44 AM
Didn't know where else to post this. If it's the wrong place just move it.

O.K. A piece of tiger eye rough has 6 sides. Just need to verify that only 2 sides cannot be
ground down and polished as they will turn blackiish. Right?

I found a place that sells rocks by the piece and need to explain to them how I want
the rough rock oriented.

Thanks,

James

I've cut a lot of tiger eye in my day, but have never heard of it turning black. I'll be following to see what others say.

It's either the sides that are against the grain or with the grain. Against, I think. Can't remember. It came up on the other forum but the search function is messed up over there.

The sides that have the thin black layer and the brown layer (Hematite?) maybe..
