I made this for my father in 2014 but just never got around to posting it. Yes he loves sailing and so very appropriate.
First picture was before it was sent and the second after her mounted it and put it in place.
Enjoy

What a beautiful gift for your dad! I bet he loved it. I like how it was mounted, too. Very elegant looking. :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Robin,
Never easy to find or make something when your family live on the opposite side of the world. Yes he is very happy with it. He is not a person to say much so his comments were very welcome. My dad is very talented as well. Was/is a Cabinet maker amongst other things.

Interesting colour differences between the two pics. What material is in use?

Suuweeeeeeeet. The boat fits in front of the background picture like it really should be there. Excellent artwork.

The boat was labradorite, sails paua shell and the backing I do beleave was Cotham marble..
The pictures were taken in different setting and by the looks of my fathers, they had the house lights on.
Hope that answers the querry.
Thanks for looking

Thank you. Yes it certainly does. I love colour-play, so when I see something that gives different colours in different settings, its always interesting.

Slight error in the backing stone. I double checked it and I used Picasso Marble. The base that my dad used is black marble.

Funny, the back really looks like some serpentine we have in New Caledonia. Nice mounting!

Yaa now that's ART!
