Title: 4 projects, 1 post.
Post by: wampidy on May 01, 2016, 03:12:14 PM
Finished up some projects and do not want to take the time to make 4 different threads because I should be outside working on other projects. I am buried in so many half finished projects it is a wonder I finish anything. Have a bit of a "keep them separated" problem too. Good starter but I need a finisher.

First up is a ????? pendent that I made for a friend that is nuts about anything to do with the moon, stars and planet. I tried to carve north and south America on the earth so because of my drawing skills (son is out of town) it kind of looks like something standing on something else but I have no doubt that she will love it. The black sky has sparkles and con trails in it. The moon is opal.

This piece sort of represents the moon and stars. The moon is jadeite from Myanmar and the star is opal again.

This natural slab looks a bit like a skull and my son pushed me to do something with it because he knows someone that will buy it. Not a finished project but I thought I would toss it in to see what y'all think of it. When I finish polishing it the plan is to carve teeth in the white area just about where teeth should be.

I decided to take my zen gardens a totally different direction and add birds instead of stones. Why should the norm be rocks when nature has many other things more beautiful. The main idea is to loose your troubling thoughts while drawing lines in the sand like meditation. So, I am using shore birds with there feet in the sand and ducks floating on water if I can find some blue sand at the pet store. The ducks are not attached.

Good or bad, all comments are welcome.

I love the idea of using something other than stones in the zen garden!
Nature is more than just rocks, so it makes sense to use animals in the gardens.

Nice to see you back in the saddle, and creative juices flowing.

Thank you. I was starting to think that everyone was avoiding me. haha

My biggest problem at this time is too much juices and not enough finishes. I keep adding more and more projects so I end up finishing less and less. Every time I start looking for something that I have misplaced I end up finding two other things that I have set to the side for later.

:) :) :) Will get worse over the next few months. People are out and about, so computer time is minimal. All platforms have slowed down considerably since the weather improved somewhat. :LOLOL:

Yep, finishing (really finishing something is certainly not a forte of mine either). Once I can wear it looking reasonable, I declare it done I tend to move on to something else. I'm backlogged with promised pieces, but it just does not feel right, so they drag on. My disdero miner is waiting for a background since two years now....... :icon_tongue:, yet other things always seem more interesting......

I am the same way with promised pieces. They are something planned instead of spontaneous and creative so I do not do very many of those. If someone wants a particular stone I will tell them that I will do it but I have no idea how it will turn out until it is finished. I can usually make them happy though because they are friends or relatives and I know their preferences. I have quit making the stone rings for the same reason. Hard to be creative with a small round stone.
