Dendritic ID help needed, maybe Paiute or Amethyst Sage? Agate or Jasper? Anyone have ideas?

Australian dendritic Opal?

Looks like amy sage to me. I have some that is yellow with dendrites like that. Also, it does have some of the purple in the middle, just like mine.

I agree with the dendritic opal. I have quite a bit that looks exactly like that. Mohs 6.

Hmm. I've been searching images of amethyst sage and australian dendritic opal, and finding lots of similar stones called by both names. Most have a high shine and some translucency. I don't want to mislabel it, especially since the finished brooch/pendant will be for sale.
I bought it as is, tumble polished. It doesn't have a high shine and is completely opaque, so perhaps it would not be incorrect to call it dendritic jasper?

I think you'd be fine labeling it that.

Check the hardness.

Scratches easily with a pocket knife

Amethyst sage would not scratch with a knife. This would be dendritic opal. Almost certainly from Australia.

Thank you
