Here's a change...
You don't need Photobucket to post pictures here.
We have plenty of storage space for images.
So please, feel free to upload photos to the forum in your postings. (http://smileydatabase.com/s/498.gif)
Simply use the link at the bottom of your posting you are creating where it says "Attachments and other options." Uploading is easy using the interface. Enjoy! (http://smileydatabase.com/s/540.gif)

Amanda I tried to post pics using the attachment button but it would not allow me to post them as they needed resizing . Is there any hints to resizing pics or an auto resizing function that can be added to the site?
I did get pics to post from Photobucket to post that I resized from there.
Any help would be appreciated .

i use image resizer (still on Xp by choice)
Other ways is to use paint.net or other photo programs.
Email one to yourself i think works also.
Photos need to be 800x600 max for the forums.
Most people resize them before photobucket also.

Thanks Phish that helps.

I'm on Windows 8.1. Any photos stored in your photos folder you can click on, highlight, go up and click on edit and you can resize them.
-
Thanks Amanda.
Will give that a try.

I just tried uploading a photo for my avatar, and it doesn't seem to have gone through. Are newbies not allowed to post avatar photos, or did I do something wrong? I used the change profile link, chose a picture, hit the "change profile" button, but no go. It didn't even save my birthday date.
-
Check the size of the picture you are trying to upload. If it's to big that has been known to cause problems.
-
Thanks - I just tried one that's 140 x 140 pixels and 7.5K in size. I choose "upload picture" and then "save profile changes" and nothing shows up. No errors, either, just no picture. If 140 x 140 is too large and can't be automagically resized, what is the suggested size for an avatar pic?
-
Just tried resizing to 75 x 75 pixels - I get a message saying my profile has been successfully updated, but as far as I can tell, nothing is happening. I did manage to update my gender and location, but no profile pic.
-
Give it a few moments. First time I uploaded my avatar it took a couple hours for it to appear. Don't have a clue why it's like that either. :dontknow:
-
Checked this morning, and nope, darnit - still no avatar picture joy.
-
Hrm.
Let me do some poking around to see what's going on. If I cannot figure it out I'll give Randy a poke.
-
I just tried uploading an innocent photo of a bowl of tomatillos as your avatar. Going to give it a few minutes and see if it sticks. If not, I'm going to have to dig a heck of a lot deeper.
-
Try uploading as a .Jpeg file instead of a .png file and see if that makes a difference.
I'm trying to troubleshoot where the problem is. It's showing in the forum that you uploaded an avatar and that I did as well, but they aren't coming up. It's weird.
-
I THINK I found the problem. Somehow someone made it so no one under a certain posting level could upload an avatar? I fixed that. I think.
Try again.

Hi - all of my attempts were jpg files. And yeah, weird. Some forums I've been to don't allow posting of avatars by new members, so I was wondering if that was the case. I think there is a setting for it in some forum softwares.
In the long run, not a big deal, I was just tinkering. So no worries.

LOL, our posts must have crossed! I'll try again now and report back...
-
Hmmm, doesn't seem to be working yet. Maybe it still needs that couple of hours you mentioned earlier?
-
Let me give it a kick in it's pants.
-
OK I fiddled with a few more settings. Give it a shot.
-
Just went through the procedure again, no pic showing up yet. I'll come back around lunch and have a look to see if it shows up. Thanks for taking time to mess with this!
-
If it is still not working I'm going to have to kick some forum code rear end because I adjusted all the things I felt might be giving it a problem.
-
I went into another area and adjusted a setting. If that didn't work I wave the white flag.
-
I guess it kinda works now; My avatar is now a framed X LOL :headbang: :headbang:
-
I'm not even getting a framed X, Itsandbits! Just... nothing.
-
Alright I give up. Time for Phishisgroovin to step in. I've adjusted like 6 settings, and I still cannot make it work.
And just because sometimes cookies raise issues...
Do my sanity a favor and close your browser, empty out your cache, delete all cookies, reboot your computer and try again.
If that doesn't work. Wait for Randy to get done with work and check in.
-
Aye-aye. Be back in a bit.
-
Sorry, was longer than "a bit" - I had to start dinner. And while it was simmering, I had to smooth out the tiger's eye cab I'm working on. You know how that goes.
Anyway, uploaded avatar pic, 75 x 75 pixels, got success message, but no pic shows up that I can see. I did shut everything down and restart browser and OS, so that's not it.
-
OK time then for Randy to stab at this. I've done all I know how to do. :dontknow: :sad5:
I've written Randy a PM to address this.
-
the only thing anyone should have to so is select an image, make sure its no larger than 150x150 megapixels and it should upload?
-
try it now
Someone or the repair settings program i ran changed the attachments folder settings to selected folder instead of attachments folder.
-
Yay!!!! It works! Thank you, you two! :-)
-
Thanks Randy.
I never even thought to check the attachment settings!

I AM A GOD! :coffee1: :coffee1: :coffee1: :coffee1: :coffee1:
