Title: Which came first, the cat litter or the dish soap?

Currently, my slabs go into cat litter for awhile, then into the dishsoap bucket, and then a rinse and off to the sun.

Is there a better way? Do you find oil removal is more effective if you do the soap first, THEN the cat litter? (for instance)

My procedure has always been cat litter overnight, then wipe the litter dust off with a rag and then a rinse in water with a little dish or liquid hand soap.
It works great for me so I haven't tried any other method.

I let them drain in a bucket a few days first then the litter and finally soap and water.

i just soak in boiling water (depending on the rock) then soap bath with a brush.
I am anal about the rocks i work with so fractured slabs and cobbles get set in the "other" pile i never do anything with and save until i have a large tumbler.
