Title: Eagle rock,Prineville area Oregon.
Post by: yukonjade on May 23, 2016, 08:14:00 PM

I was prospecting the slopes beneath the old agate dig and came across an outcrop of a mixture of
rhyolite-jasper -agate.The material has pits and fractures and some solid areas,I have opticoned some slabs
and will try some cabs when it sets up,I cabbed a small solid piece, its quite colorful. :Digging:

Really interesting patterns in that material! How is it working around the pits?

My rule....a piece of rough can have one great slab with one great cab in it and it's worthwhile!!!   Lots of folks don't like fractures and pits etc but you look for the solid piece and it's liable to have a stunning cab!!

I wouldn't have thought rap was your thing Frank?!
OH....you like "THE mix a lot" not "SIR mix a lot".  Well do you at least like big butts?
...sorry...thats just how I saw it first time I read it.

As for the original post, I like the rock.  I agree with Orrum...if I can get one awesome cab out of a piece of rough it was worth all the trouble.

I am avoiding pits because of hairline fractures running off them into better material.    :icon_thumright:

I don't have a problem with a pit or crack if it adds to the character of the cab.
The material I'm working with has a minimum of solid stone,Ive already had 4 cabs self destruct
       while working them up.    :Bash:
