Cut this little chunk from Nipomo, CA today. Very cool sprays of sagenite and botryoidal cavities. About 8cms wide.

A couple more little nodules...

Great stuff there Talusman! I love Nipomo. I tried collecting there and ended up at the right place and the owner has been a friend ever since. They had such a bad reputation as anti rockhound. I went up to a door and asked if they owned the land that had just been tilled, she said "you a rockhound" and I thought I was done for. I said yes and she said "great, my parents were rockhounds, come on in" then she sent her son out with me to help me collect. If you are honest it pays. I have had many fun days of collecting there and I have quite a bit of great Nipomo material. My favorite was a purple sagenite needle agate, wasn't too big, but the color rocks. I always tought about collecting at night there as the sagenite agate fluoresces and it would make it easier to spot. The first time I was there I found a 16lb piece of Marcasite Agate about 20 feet from the road. Dropping in a pic of some Dendritic Agate I found there also, it had sagenite on the sides of the rough.

Wow Steve - great cabs! These little nodules were so fun to cut - did them by hand on the trim saw - instant gratification :)
Glad to hear you found a spot to collect... You never know unless you ask!
Cheers,
