Title: Velcro disks
Post by: GoodEarth on July 17, 2016, 12:46:14 PM
I love my wet grinder, and doing large pieces. I recently picked up a nice old 2 wheel arbor for $60 that has space on the end for a pad.

Wondering if anyone has modified one of these to use the velcro disks with any success?

Easy peasy if the shaft is 5/8" with course threads. Just buy a backer pad and screw it on. Get the biggest that will fit because the little 4" discs don't give you much area to work with.

I am not sure what kind of wheel/backer pad is on there but I have used industrial velcro and stuck strips of it to a wood disc that I removed a felt pad off of. It has lasted a long time and I only had to replace one strip of velcro. Just make sure you are lined up when you touch the pad with the velcro because that stuff in very difficult to get off.
