From a vein on a hillside that I tripped over while looking for something else. Material is too fractured for slabbing, so I am making a cube. Material is semi-translucent, with moss, tubes, rings and pockets full of crystals. I really like it and will definitely be going back to the vein for more.

Red and orange moss agate from.... somewhere. Big solid chunk, so I'll make some slabs once I get a new blade.

End bit off a speckled river rock. I think olivine? It's mentioned as being common in an upstream region.

End bit off a big odd-shaped chunk of mixed agate/other stuff.

The other end from the above rock, and there's a lot of material in between! Would like to make a display specimine from it, as there isn't really enough solid material for cabbing but I think the tubes and trapped crystal formations are really nice. I don't know what the needle-like crystals embedded in the agate are. They may just be tiny calcite crystals. This is another one where I know the location and know there's more material up there.

How big if a piece can you get of the first one. It looks like it would make a good sphere. I can stabilize the cracks. That bottom one will make a pretty display specimen. I agree with you on jut polishing it and leave if whole. They are all cool rocks

That last pic is spectacular - where'd it come from?

The top piece is only two inches or so on one side but I will try for a bigger piece next time. And thanks! They are all from central Oregon, north of Ashwood near the John Day. That one in particular is from a hill behind an abandoned building where my brother and I used to go paintballing.

A few more...
It's quite a pattern but there's a big horizontal fracture running through it. Big piece though and I'm looking forward to slabbing it once the new blade comes.

Leetle orbs! I think they are softer than the surrounding agate though, as they have weathered out on all exposed surfaces. A big piece would make something unusual to display, though.

Small piece of a mossy blue and gold stone that is softer than agate ought to be; it comes from a slate-colored tuff outcrop and is capped with quartz crystals, so maybe it didn't get quite thoroughly baked in transformation.

A mossy agate from... somewhere. It's a big piece so when i cut it again I'll try to dodge the two big fractures running through it.

A bit abstract. This is from a fire-burned vein that shows evidence of prior digging, though I don't know when. The interior fractures appear fully healed but I haven't tried polishing yet.
