Picked up a rock collection recently, with a 1 1/2 Lb. parcel of "Fordite"

That fordite is a good score. The "mines" are all played out. It's going for about $30 a chunk on eBay.

I overheard at an auction that some people with the right connection are now getting the material from boat manufacturing.

Very interesting cab. When polishing what grits do you use?

I ground the shape on 8" metal 100 grit. Sanded on worn 400 grit and Polished on a sewn buff with automotive rubbing compound, light touch at the end. Over all it cuts easy and fast. I did not saw this piece, just followed the general shape of the paint chip. The center of the cab is depressed showing the metallic gold color which was the original top color.
