I'm always dragging home interesting looking rocks from work just so I can throw them in my saw and see what I get. Most of the time they are duds. A few turn out to be worth it just because they look cool inside, but not much lapidary value. Occasionally I find a nice piece of something worth cutting a cab from. And then every once in a while I get a winner.
I was walking across the job on Monday and looked down and there was a random agate just lying at my feet. After a quick test-lick (yes, I admit, I'm a licker) I knew it would be worth cutting. And I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I'll only get a couple small slabs, but they are nice.

Remember, I probably hauled home 50 pounds of crap just to get one good stone like this! :LOLOL:
