Title: Need to find the best way for stabilizing dino bone...

have about 2 pounds of it...looks like it could be chalking up in certain areas. Sandy material. Maybe a little rust
. Never stabilized a slab before. So far we can't get Hxtal in Canada, have epoxy 330, and opticon...how would I go about doing this? Thx

There are a couple of methods in this mindat article (http://www.mindat.org/article.php/1129/Methods+to+Stabilize+Material+for+Cutting) that should work.

I believe Hxtal is the best material for this purpose, aided by a vacuum chamber to degas and aid in penetration. However, only good raw material will be worth it financially as the epoxy is expensive and the process is time consuming. If the material isn't striking when wet, it may not be worth the effort.
