Hard to categorize these on this site. I was commissioned to design, create and install a number of wall mounted guitar holders for singer-songwriter David Crosby.
Naturally I had to include some stone to the design so decided that the pivot pins for the arms would be a combination of 1/2" brass (which is not visible) with stone tips. The brass rod was cut, machined flat and then both the rod and stone pieces were drilled to accept brass dowels prior to gluing them together. I've since started using large diamond hole saws to cut stone "plugs" which are slightly larger diameter than the rod and minimizes the cutting and grinding. The upper stone on the pin is slightly larger diameter that the bottom so it doesn't fall through.These photos are the upper guitar restraints only. There is a lower piece that holds the weight of the guitars. The pins in these photos are jade. More photos on my web site if your curious.

Wow. Very nice work! And I'm impressed that you were commissioned to do work for David Crosby (we are speaking of THE David Crosby I assume?)
I wish I had somewhere nice to hang my guitars. My 12-string sits on a stand where I can grab it when I feel the need but the rest are in cases and hiding in the closet.

I should cut some of my Holley log length into short boards.
The neighbor cut down a 100+ year old Holley tree down.
I took all the wood.
But i had to cut it into firewood lengths awhile back.
But rough chainsaw boards sent to you would still be used for a beautiful guitar holder!
it dries and is white like Ivory when properly done.

ToTheSummit....yep that's the guy...we became friends about ten years ago when I inspected his 60' Alden schooner "MAYAN". He had gone through an earthquake that damaged some of his personnel gear so he wanted the holders to contain his guitars yet still be available when the mood struck.
Phishisgroovin....like a rockhound that will never say no to a gift of rock, I'd welcome any holly you would care to part with.
Way back when holly was easier to get we used to use it in cabin soles (floors) in boats. Teak and holly was the norm for floors...a wide plank of teak with a thin strip of holly between.
