My favorite material to cut.......Obsidian is so colorful and full of the unknown with pattern and designs.....
Like hounding the material too.....
Here are some pieces that I have slabbed over the years......

A few more......

Funny thing is,the naked eye doesn't pick up the snowflakes in the Obsidian, like the camera does...

Some gorgeous slices you have there. I find the pieces with ribbons and lace particularly fascinating (the obsidian equivalent of parallax-effect agate), and sometimes the mixes of sheen layers and various color layers can give you a real "how did this possibly form" puzzle. The stuff is real hard to photo, though, so thanks for sharing.

Hey I like those mahogany with ash in.it making snowflakes or stars!!!

Love those swirling orange flame and coal color contrasts. Great set of photos showing the variations; I had no idea obsidian could be so amazing. thanks for sharing. :headbang:

I love the gray ones with swirly banding. Do they have a specific name? I don't see that type often st all and I have seen it labeled all different things including "silver lace obsidian," "silver sheen," and "gray banded."

Your talking of "Silver Sheen" Obsidian..............Tons of it where we go,its like seeing rivers of the material!! I have a few hundred pounds of it,just sitting there, nobody likes it...
I'm going to cut it in different ways to get different patterns.....

Well, I like silver sheen very much. If you should get it cut into slabs such that the bands curve or swirl like that (as opposed to just being straight parallel lines), I'd be interested in buying if you list it on etsy or ebay or in a trade. Please keep me posted!
