Post by: mountainman on March 22, 2017, 12:17:06 PM
I was at Cuesta Fire Agate Mine, By Oatman, AZ this winter. Helping Owner open a new hole, We have located a great hole with lots of Fire Agate. Pieces show great Fire. Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Yellow and Reds. It you like Druse Crystal Clusters, we found a good number of them as wel. l Will post pics as I get to start working some and show in the rough as well

Looking forward to.
Interesting times to be in FA. There seems to be a good number of very nice FA in the market right now.

If you are into Fire Agate you are going to like it. Give Don a call before going out. He has raised his price a bit but more than worth it.

I don't understand the pay to dig pricing structure. how do you tell who's a hobbyist vs recreationalist (what's the difference?) vs professional digger and what difference does it make so long as the limit is one 5 gal bucket and hand tools only? Why charge more for someone who knows what they're doing and looking for? Seems dumb.

Good Morning Rocky, Thanks for the comments, Yes you are correct in some ways, but as we have noticed over the years there is a definite difference in the different types of Rock Collectors. Hears a couple things to think about. Some people just want to walk the claims and just want to pick up what they find not wanting or can't dig for different reasons, Most people come to dig and take away what they get. And then there are others that come to get all they can (Which is fine). Then there are others who come with all the tools to move much ground as they can and only take the what they think are good pcs leaving a lot behind. Yes there is a limit to what you can take away from the Mine, there's a couple reasons, Fire Agate as you know is a limited resource for us to enjoy. We work on a concept that what you dig you take with you. If you have more than a 5 gallon bucket then, there is an extra charge for it depending on how much you have.

If you look at other Fee Digs, you are limited to what and where you can dig,  ie: you can only pick through their tailing piles which they have already gone through. Some have special digs for professional diggers. You will see that they will have different prices for different people's interests.   Please Remember Fire Agate is a limited resource, and we want people to leave happy at the end of the day for a reasonable cost.  Hope this helps out. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me personally.
