Title: trimmed photo
Post by: Slabbercabber on April 14, 2017, 11:54:43 AM
All of my images seem to load OK but show up shifted far right and severely cut off.  Resizing the image has no affect.  Can someone point me to a way to fix this?

Not sure why it is doing that.
I will check the forum settings.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Are you attaching images or linking them from another site?

I ask because all the attachment settings are right where they have been for a while...
Nothing has changed there.

I have been inserting directly.  This has been a problem ever since the hosting changed.  I see that a lot of others have the same issue.

Could it just be your screen settings?  Try hitting Control -  (That's control key and minus key)
Control minus reduces the size of everything; control plus increases and causes the one side of the image to go off screen until you scroll to it.  As a recent cataract patient, ask me why I know this.

Inserting directly?  You mean attaching?

No one else to my knowledge has alerted admins to this problem before.  You are the only person I know of to have reported this problem.
Attachment settings are all fine, I've double checked them.  So I'm not sure where the problem is happening.   :dontknow:

If it is something on the code side of things I will have to wait for Randy to get back from his vacation.  He codes.  I just trouble shoot settings, approve new members, put in new forums and subforums, and whack people with a stick when they misbehave.    Randy may know of a new update to the forum software or some other thing that might be having a problem.   You don't want me touching code - things go BOOM!    :LOLOL:

by looking at a few of the topics and images posted.
Slabber is using offsite hosting and linking to photos.

When using a photo link, you have to put the link UNDER a paragraph or above and below a sentence.

the link has to be on its own line with no words next to it either before or after the image link.

I never use offsite hosting.  I simply use the "Attach" system below the post.  I am referring to problems such as seen in these threads.

Those photos appear to be fine on my screen -- except if I hit control + a couple of times and then they get bigger and extend off of the right side of the screen.  hit control minus and they return to normal size and position.  Did you try this?

Those threads display correctly here, although I do see large pixel sizes beneath some of the pics. Large enough to look like what you describe if your browser does not resize them.

Tried both pages in IE 11 and Firefox 52. Displayed the same in both browsers.

Yep, displaying correctly on my monitor, too.

Those are all displaying correctly on my monitor as well.
I suspect a problem with the resolution on your monitor or , only because I have had this happen once - another program on your computer and your browser are having a war, and so some things don't come out the way they are supposed to.  I had to switch browsers to remedy the issues I was having.  I was using Firefox.  I now use Chrome.

I had my son do a remote fix on the computer.  He deleted Chrome and all is well.

Glad you found a fix, and that it was only a browser issue.
