Title: Unknown petrified wood~
Post by: Gergis on May 27, 2017, 08:41:58 PM
Just polished this slab that was given to me awhile back by my friend morgan whos grandfather was a rockhound in the oregon area. I was given a box full of slabs and some odds and edds and I'd cut a couple stones from the box, put it away and forgotten about it til recently when I was packing up for a move and refound the box. I have never seen another slab like it and can't believe I hadn't tried cutting or polishing it already! If anyone recognizes the material I sure would love to know more about it! Gonna have to really start digging into my boxes more often!!

The finger color is way off but the slab color is pretty close to what we took a picture of, a tough one .

It's not exactly typical of what I've seen but it could be Luna agate.

Agree it's agate and not wood. Does look a bit like Luna.
