Title: Stone removal question
Post by: Stonemon on June 03, 2017, 01:01:56 PM
My wife and I have been picking up some vintage jewelry here and there. We found a large jade rat carving bead set in a sterling bezel and I would like to remove it and cut a custom cab for the bezel. The bead would be made into another piece of jewelry. It appears to be glued in. Thinking about dropping it in some acetone for a bit and trying to pop it out.
Any thoughts? Other ideas? :dontknow:
Thanks,
Bill

If the piece is old enough it probably doesn't have a modern glue. You might try gluing a dop stick to the surface and putting it the freezer to shrink the old glue.
